SIAM BENZOIN

Benzoin is a natural resin that can be collected from two types of styrax trees: Styrax benzoin, native to Sumatra, and Styrax tonkinensis, which grows in Southeast Asia. This black Benzoin is from the Styrax tonkinensis tree and comes from Singapore. 
 
Benzoin resin has a sweet, warm, and slightly vanilla-like scent with balsamic undertones. It can have hints of cinnamon and floral overtones depending on its origin and quality.
 
It has relaxant and sedative properties, helping to relieve anxiety and stress. It is uplifting, soothing, warming, helps to overcome depression and restore confidence, dispels anger, and clears the head. Benzoin is warm, relaxing and calming and popular to use in the evening mixed with sandalwood. It has been known to stimulate imagination and creative work. It is often burned with Cinnamon for prosperity. 
 
Since antiquity, styrax resin has been used in perfumes, some kinds of incense, and medicines. Benzoin has been used in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic practices for its expectorant and antiseptic properties. In Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions, benzoin is a common ingredient in church incense blends.
