SUMATRAN BENZOIN

$8.00Price

Benzoin is a natural resin that can be collected from two types of styrax trees: Styrax benzoin, native to Sumatra, and Styrax tonkinensis, which grows in Southeast Asia. This Benzoin is from the Styrax benzoin tree and comes from Sumatra.

The fragrance is warm, rich, and sweet, often described as having vanilla-like, balsamic, and slightly spicy undertones. Compared to other types of benzoin (like Siam benzoin), Sumatran benzoin has a more earthy and resinous profile with less pronounced sweetness. When burned, Sumatran benzoin produces a thick, aromatic smoke that lingers and fills spaces with its soothing scent.

Sumatran benzoin has been traditionally used for cleansing spaces, people, and objects of negative energies. Its protective qualities make it a common choice in rituals designed to ward off harmful influences or spiritual impurities. It is considered a resin of attraction, healing, and harmony, promoting emotional warmth and release. The sweetness of benzoin is said to uplift the spirit and ease depression or emotional fatigue. The calming and centering effects of its fragrance make it ideal for meditation, prayer, and grounding practices. It is often blended with other sacred incenses like frankincense and myrrh to enhance spiritual connection. Its sweet-smoky aroma is believed to carry prayers to the heavens.

It has been used for centuries as an incense and in perfumery, medicine, and spiritual practices. In various spiritual traditions, benzoin is offered to deities, ancestors, or spirits as part of devotional practices. Sumatran benzoin is highly valued for its versatility, warmth, and rich fragrance, making it a cherished addition to incense blends and spiritual practices. Its ability to calm, purify, and protect enhances both ritualistic and everyday uses.
